Multi-Vendor Order: Locally Grown Plants-By: Virgil’s Plants & Produce

Price range: $5.00 through $10.00

We are backyard nursery growers practicing minimal chemical usage on our plants and soil. We focus on maintaining best practices that minimize pests (hence, less need for spraying synthetic pesticides) and produce strong, healthy plants. Put succinctly,  we pour alot of love into what we do and we want to share that with you, our customers.

Though we grow a variety of vegetables and medicinal herbs, we only ship those plants that we believe are sturdy enough to  handle the shipping and handling processes available. These plants are not just durable,  but also beneficial to you and good plants for your garden (see below).

If there is a plant that you do not see listed and you are able to  pick it up or have it delivered, feel free to contact us with questions regarding our overall plant inventory.  We are available to you here via the online market, and we are listed on Facebook as Virgil’s Plants and Produce.  Finally, my personal email is belindabullard21@gmail.com.

Description

Our business motto is “don’t just eat; heal.”  We currently offer the following plants to help our customers do just that.

These are available for pickup,  delivery, or shipping:

Aloe vera: Aloe is a genus of over 500 species of flowering succulent plants native to Africa, Madagascar, and the Arabian Peninsula, characterized by rosettes of thick, fleshy, and often spiky leaves. It is globally renowned for its clear, healing inner gel, which has been used for millennia to soothe minor burns and skin irritations.

Blackberries (thorned) : Blackberries are highly nutritious, low-calorie berries packed with fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K. Like other foods that are darker in color, they are laden with anthocyanins that help the body fight cancer and manage diabetes.  They support immune function, digestion, and heart health. (https://health.clevelandclinic.org/benefits-of-blackberries, accessed 4/2026)

Chives: Chives have value both as a garden dependent and a unique culinary experience.  In the garden, they deter a number of pests such as aphids and Japanese beetles. For this reason, they are excellent companion plants for roses, tomatoes,  carrots, and broccoli.  Both the leaves and the flowers are edible, lending a mild onion flavor to everything from eggs to salads.

Comfrey* (Bocking 14 variety): comfrey is what we refer to as “a gardener’s plant.” This is a non-invasive variety that has many uses. It grows a deep taproot that extends into the soil and draws nutrients up and into the leaves. As such, the leaves can be cut and used as a green mulch or fertilizer. In spring, the plant produces gorgeous purple flowers that attract pollinators to the garden.

Moringa: Moringa leaves are highly nutritious, containing significant levels of vitamins A, C, B-vitamins, iron, calcium, and potassium, alongside powerful antioxidants. They are renowned for aiding in blood sugar management, lowering blood pressure, reducing inflammation, protecting liver health, and boosting immunity (https://www.webmd.com/vitamins-and-supplements/health-benefits-moringa, accessed 4/2026).

Yarrow: Often consumed as a tea, yarrow is a medicinal herb widely used to aid wound healing, reduce inflammation, improve digestive health, and alleviate anxiety. It is an essential part of any skin healing and care management regimen.

Hibiscus roselle: Often compared to the tart sweetness of cranberry juice (and tarnishing the nickname of “Jamaican Koolaid”), hibiscus roselle has a rich history of traditional uses and is recognized for its diverse pharmacological properties, including antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and more. *Comfrey is often used as a healing treatment for external skin damage as a result of burns, bruises, and scrapes. Ask about our comfrey salve that is always available for pick-up or delivery, but only shipped seasonally because of its sensitivity to heat.

Price range: $6.99 through $13.99

You will find these preserves are minimally processed, with whole berries as well as seeds.

*** THE #1 Lowest Net Carbs of all my jellies and jams ***

Blackberry preserves are a versatile fruit spread that can be used in a variety of ways, from breakfast to desserts. They are commonly enjoyed on toast, pancakes, or stirred into oatmeal, but their uses extend beyond simple spreads.

Blackberry preserves can be used as a filling for pastries, such as scones, tarts, or thumbprint cookies. They can also be incorporated into baked goods like muffins, cakes, or breads to add a fruity flavor. Additionally, they can be used as a glaze for meats, a topping for yogurt or ice cream, or even as a base for cocktails and mocktails. For a unique twist, they can be drizzled over cheese boards or used in savory dishes to balance flavors. Some recipes also suggest using blackberry preserves as a sauce for desserts.
